    Default Puppy Stake?

What could one expect at a Sanctioned Field Trial “puppy stake”?

One is being held near here next weekend. Little Scrub is doing very well in OB (we got a Certificate of Merit from the club) and is doing great on retrieving but he is only 5-1/2 months old…it is rattling around in my head but I don’t want to get him into something that we can’t handle…
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver.

Flyin High in the Passenger Side CD CGC - "Scrub"

K&D's Sweet Romancer CGC - "Eddie" - newest member of the family.

High Flying Storm Trooper - Trooper (02/25/03 - 07/26/09) - He gave us his all - We miss you big guy...run and play...

If this is NAHRA, it is very low key. The marks are short, I think we did 5 total, 3 land and 2 water. Pretty much as long as they pick it up and bring it back to your general area, you should be fine. Everyone always enjoyed seeing the little ones run. Good luck.

I'm guessing it is Manitowoc. I have taken puppies at that age and they were not FF. If they are under 6 months they may have to be run out of contention. It's kind of a catch the bird before they drop it thing. If he brings the bird back to you go and have fun. Single marks but they can get longer depending on the judges for the later series. Like a JH and of course no water up here. LOL. I had a puppy throw the pigeon up in the air about 10 times. He wasn't ruined but we had a good laugh.

At our club's HUNT TEST puppy stakes, it's VERY low key.

Just a couple simple marks out in the open. No delivery to hand, no steadiness required or anything like that. Most everybody squats down to restrain their pups and we've even been known to rethrow a bumper if the pups weren't watching and/or have the birdboys help them out.

We judge on how straight they run, but every dog that completes the 2 single retrieves earns a ribbon and a round of applause.
