I really think he is the way to go. I think he may be our only real hope of not flushing the country down the toilet. I think most of the "top tier" candidates on both sides would lead us further down the road to crapville.

A few months ago SAOVA was discussing the candidates and Huckabee certainly seemed the most in line with sportsmen's and animal-owner concerns. IIRC he owns and hunts with a black Lab.

Fortunately, we are past Thanksgiving, and the liberal Democrats in my extended family will go down with the Edwards or Clinton ships, so I'll pick my battles carefully....but thanks for the heads up!

Perhaps if he is elected POTUS, he can fix some of the things the LAST Ark Gov to be elected POTUS screwed up! This is a National election where ANY Republican in the running is a far far better choice than either of the dems.

As most know, the ability to keep my mouth shut is something i've yet to master. Even though i am adopted, i think i somehow inherited that trait from my family. Several family gatherings have gone from fun, food, and fellowship to VERY heated political debates in a matter of seconds. I get sooo mad because they don't follow politics and are of the crazy mindset that the democrat party of today is the same as it was 30 years ago. Huckabee doesn't have the best tax record. But in his defense he took over one of the most jacked up tax states in the country (IMO) and did a great job with what he had to work with.
He's a hard guy not to like. And now that he's finally getting some attention, i think he stands a chance.

it the immigration issue that worries me with huckabee. he is in favor of providing a free education for illegal alien's children among other things. not a good record of strong immigration policy in ark.
