    Default 3 legged Retrievers

Could someone with knowlege of how to search this site please point me in the right direction to pull up the photo of Chis' yellow seated with the black dog from not to long ago.( Both hunting on three legs)

A friend has a dog that may lose a leg to cancer depending on how they choose to treat and I thought it may help console them with the choices they are faced with.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I would look up amputate, amputations and osteosarcoma. There have been a variety of dogs that have been brought up in discussion. It should provide LOTS of hope for your friend. It's worth doing the search because we've had maybe 3-4 longish threads on it with a variety of positive testimonials.

Thoughts and prayers for your friend and their dog...

Tell them to get this book:

Without Regret: Handbook for Owners of Canine Amputees, by Susan Neal
    Marlana Smith
APR SHR TDK's Dusty Gunslinger JH - "Churchill"
CPR Max's Black Diamond Girl Scout JH - "Scout"

    Thanks Kristie,

As best as I can remember the thread with the photo was not related to those topics but was more in line with photos of dogs and I think it had been taken when Chris was at a duck calling competition.

Puppaloo I will forward the book's title to my friends. The dog with the problem does have over 500 HRC points and has been to the Grand at least twice.

Please tell them that they will do better for their dog to go ahead and amputate than to try lots of other stuff first that doesn't have a great chance of success, even though that seems harsh. Dogs do just fine on three legs-it's the people that have a hard time with it.

The site is www.orthopets.com I like this site! It also talks about achilles rupture and you dont have to keep the dog kenneled for 8 weeks after surgery!!

You beat me to it! I was just getting ready to post the same photo.

Mike, is that the one you're looking for?
