My girl came into season (her first cycle) in October.
Her lower 4 nipples and breasts swelled up and were a bit hard to the touch. Time past and the swelling subsided but never completely went away.
All fo the sudden (late nov / early Dec) the swelling returned and is even a bit more apparent this time.
An additional possible factor: I have a 3 year old bitch with a litter of pups in the house whelped Dec 5th. The younger female lives outside in the kennel but they air in the same yard at seperate times.
Could the hormone factor in the air - have casued a false pregnancy or something similar? Is this something I should be concerned about?
Attitude wise there has also been one major change since her cycle in October - she started guarding the tuck and barking / growling through her crate at passers by (dogs or people). Take her out = she's fine with everyone. Just wondering if this is all related. Not so worried about the behavioral alteration -nice to have a "guard dog" all be it 48 lbs of her). & She stops if I tell her to.
I hate to spend $50 for a vet visit to have him tell me - "yea - it will go away." What do you think?
