New to the forums
I've been reading on here for a while and just got registered so I thought I would introduce myself. I live in eastern NC and I fly C-130's for the Marine Corps. It's a great job and there are days I still can't believe that I get to fly $70 million airplanes for a living. I have a CLM that will be 6 in April that is a SH. When we got him I didn't know anything about the dog games, we just wanted a lab that I could take hunting. He is a great dog for the family and he does a good job of picking up the birds.
I am looking at getting another puppy in the next 8-12 months and have a pretty good list of stud dogs that I am interested in. I plan on training this dog myself and I am starting to collect books to get myself schooled up. I have trained with a professional and I train my current dog 3-4 times per week just to keep him tuned up.
I will be deploying overseas in the next month or so and I am planning on taking as much reading material as possible so that I can come back and when I get my new dog get him started on the right foot. Up to this point I have only had experience with HT's but with this next dog I would like to get in the FT game.
I am planning on getting the smartworks books but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
