first post/FT near MI

Hey guy's and gals was wondering where the closest FT were to MI i would love to go and watch gettin a new pup the first of Feb. from pretty good lines and thinking of trying to get in the FT trial game, have run some HT with my blm.

thanks looks like a great group of people with alot of FT knowledge just trying to soak it all up. That lean mac story you'll did was great. My new pup has him in both sides as great GF and cosmo and the boss is her ganddads. did anyone see Trumarcs Stormin Norman run last year that is her dad just curious on him. Thanks again Jim

I believe the 1st trial in Michigan is May 2-4 in Fenwick. The next would be May 16-18 @ Metamora.

If you want to see her daddy run come to Minnesota this summer. We run against each other most every weekend from May 1 thru September 1.

Like Ted said on the other thread, he is a wonderful animal to watch. Mark, Norman's owner, is a super person as well.

PRTA is holding a Field Trial in Tower Michigan this year. Don't remember the date. Awesome grounds for a trial even without the improvements under way.
Also there are 2 Canadian trials just over the bridge from the UP in august or september. Northern Ontario and Algoma.

If you are on the western side of the U.P. both Manitowoc and Madison have Field trials, I believe there are several in the Kenosha, Wi. as well.

I am originally from Iron Mountain, actually even Eastern Iowa/Mid Iowa and Blackhawk Retriever clubs are closer to most of the U.P. than southern Michigan is.

duke7581 - I do not know of any trials in the UP. However, the following 3 are a drivable distance from the UP (depending on where you are).

Wisconsin Amateur Retriever Club Spring Trial April 25-27. This club is near Horicon, WI and would be about a 3 hour drive from the southern most tip of the UP (Menominee)

Muddy Waters Retriever Club Trial is held at the Mead Dog Training Grounds near Junction City, WI - (2&1/2 hours from Menominee) http://muddywatersretrievers.com
Only problem is this is a fall trial.

Manitowoc County Kennel Club – Held near Valders, WI and about 1&1/2 hours from Menominee. http://www.mc-kc.com/index.html

thanks i'll look into them i live on the far east by Sault St. Marie but the trial in April i can prob. make still laid off from work.

Here are the dates for you.

The 2 Canadain trials up in the Sault are held back to back over 4 days. (Thur-Sun)
These would be a good choice for your first field trials.

July 31, Aug 1 - Northern Ontario Retriever Ass'n, Iron Bridge, ON
Aug 3, Aug 4 - Algoma Retriever Association, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

The Professional Retriever Trainers Association trial in Tower / Onaway MI (Upper Lower Peninsula) is held Oct 3-5.
