Default Cabelas Gun Dog Series E Collars by Innotek

    Anybody familiar with the GS-7000?

    Features:
    One mile range.
    Instant Boost.
    Waterproof Transmitter & Receiver.
    20 continuous & moment levels.
    Tone.
    LCD display.
    Lost transmitter locator.
    2 hour charge.
    2 year warranty.
Expanable to two dogs by adding a second collar.

    300 bucks.

Doesn't this seem like a pretty nice system for the money?

I'm just getting into the market for an E-collar and was wondering what you all thought about this one.

    Thanks,
    Marc

    Marc,

I hear some people bash innotek ecollars, but I bought one for my first ecollar. It worked great. It heald a charge forever, and actually still does. My best friend had a better version than me and had similar success.

My first collar was an Innotek and I found it to be very inconsistent. Although they may have changed in the past few years, I believe you can get better value for your buck. You can get a tritronics sport combo for under $300 with free shipping. You can get a TT sport for even cheaper. Let’s say the innotek is as good a collar as a TT (I doubt it is), then go with TT for their customer service. Their customer service is excellent. Good luck with your choice.

Cabela's Gun Dog Series --- An Innojunk by any other name is still an Innojunk. I've tried them, in addition to being inconsistent, their "randomly selected" frequencies, which you can reset are a joke. When I had an Innojunk years ago, I was training with another guy. We both had Innojunks. He hit the button to correct his dog and burned mine. I tried to reprogram the frequency. Same problem. Last time I ever had one of those things on a dog. Tri-tronics is the standard against which all others are measured.

I looked at the Cabela's collar too. I finally decided to go with Tri-Tronics, the only one made in the USA. I have heard a lot of good reviews on the G3, but decided to fork over the extra money and get a Pro 100 EXP.

If you haven't done it yet read the reviews on the Cabela's website. That made me question the quality of the product and Innotek's customer service.

Buy a Tri Tronics. You will eventually so save the time and $ and get it to start with.

Thanks for the feedback folks. TCFarmer, you're right. I checked out the reviews and found them to be about 20/80. 80% poor reviews. I've been reading posts about various E collars. This is the first time I have been able to gain a clear understanding of where TT stands against the others. I also didn't know how negatively Innotek was viewed.

    Thanks again for the opinions.
