The way the DNA and AKC works, is you order the kit from AKC and then send the DNA into them. They have a dept that handles it. They then send it out to at least one lab but I think they use a couple of them. Then they record the DNA analysis in their databank once they receive it back from the lab.

What information is gathered from the DNA sample?
It is used primarily for parentage verification.

Can you get other types of information from it?
Stuff like non-carrier, carrier, affected type of genetic information?
I know there are tests already for certain things i.e. CNM, PRA, EIC (study), etc., but can the DNA profile expose other types of genetic information or is it pretty vague?
Each gene has to be tested for individuallyfor a condition. The DNA is for parentage and just lists the gene sets they are testing. AB, AA, BB, etc. which only works for parentage. http://www.metamorphixinc.com/k9parentage.pdf

Thankyou.
I emailed AKC last week, and they replied also.
Just for interest, we can choose for open disclosure, but in the US owner certification/signature is required. Wonder why?
