D1 have you ever met Tim Gibson (HRC Judge's Corner)? My husband took him fishing and camping when he came up and Tim made the "Mountain Man Breakfast" for my husband and son. My son swears that was the best breakfast he has ever eaten. He always reminds us that it has to be cooked until it's "golden brown".

I'm just getting into dutch oven cooking.
I bought a 12in dutch oven. How big is the one you cooked with? How many coals did you use on the top and bottom?
I have been reading some books and they all tell me different, on how many coals to use on the top and bottom.

try this place .. it has helped me out
somewhere on it there is even a chart of how many coals to use for
size of oven and the temp you want.
I use a 10 in oven
