This is the Last Thing I Want to be Doing Right Now

Saturday night my 20 month BLF was hit and killed by a car. I was in bed with the flu and had a friend of the family letting her out of the kennel/yard for some exercise and she must not have locked the gate when putting her back.

So this is the last thing I want to be doing right now because a new dog is not what I want right now but what I do want is my pup back. Lilly was out of an exceptional breeding and I will be looking for another dog out of an exceptional breeding. Since I know that this can be a long process I am starting my search now.

Does anyone know of a future planned breeding that I should look into.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is just awful. I know that this does not help, but we are so sorry for your loss of your 20 month black lab. I totally understand that you just want your beautiful pup back.

I know that there are lots of people on here that can help you with a super breeding, but when you say exceptional I think that you have to be more specific. What is your ultimate purpose and what qualities do you look for in temperament, drive,trainability, size, structure, look etc.

What is great is that there are so many different types of exceptional lab breedings being done today that I am sure that you can zero in on the right one for you.

I'm very sorry for your loss. At 20 months you finally start to get a sense of who your pup might be. It's sad to have to start over but I also find that planning for my next dog helps soften the blow. You didn't say much about what type of dog you are looking for: hunting, hunt test, field trial, etc. There are a lot of great litters in the classifieds here.

Know the feeling all too well...one of my best dogs was hit and killed while packing up from a hunting outing...one of the worse moments of my life....so sorry to hear this.

I heavily hunt my dog, yet also expect a well behaved family member as well.

I prefer a very petite dog.

Lilly was black but I am open to yellow.
