    Default Petsmart vs. Petco

Anybody have an opinion on whether Petsmart stock at a deflated price is a fair investment? I've never been in a Petco, but there is one opening up near one of my local Petsmarts. Does every town already have a Petsmart or a Petco? Some of yall know some stuff so I thought I'd ask as I have been known to do some stupid things like maybe buy Petsmart stock.

Up here in New England I have never seen a Petsmart. Petco is everywhere.

We have both here and I always buy at Petco. With their rewards card every 10th bag is free and at least one week a month they offer $6 off per bag. The incentives make my decision for me.

We also have both, and prefer Petco. They have their programs and incentives that make shopping there much more attractive than Petsmart. If given the choice, I would go with Petco stock.

We have a Petco,Petsmart and Petland all just about in view of each other. My sister works at Petco.Petland is crap. They sell puppy mill puppies.Petco and Petsmart have shelters come in with dogs to adopt from the shelter.Between the two you mention it would be hard to say one is better or worse than the other. They seem about the same to me.We shop at both depending on where the truck is parked. If you buy Petland,I guarantee I don't shop there at all.

Petland sign on the highway:They're always on sale.

We have both, I much prefer PetSmart. They are typically cleaner and better organized. Also a little bigger at least in my area. However, Petco is the only one that has Pro Plan Performance. Probably not a huge difference between the two nationally.

I prefer Petsmart. Petsmart is always cheaper for ProPlan than Petco. Most of the time Proplan is on sale with a PetsPerk card. PetsMart is clean and have the entire ProPlan line.

Petsmart will report fourth quarter earnings 3-5-08 WED after the bell

With the stock trading near its 52 week low and a forward P/E ratio of 11.5 as well as a large stock buyback, I would say Petsmart is cheap here.

I think PetSmart could rally on any earning suprise. If not, it's still a good long-term play. Goldman Sachs has a target of $34 a share long term.

I like your thinking! You can spend your money in a store you own(Stock) part of and get your money back in the future. I do this all the time.

Do your own research, but I like the stock here.

My wife and kids are a great research tool for me. Gymboree, Madden Shoes, The Gap and many other stores we shop at have paid us back thru their stocks much more than we spent there. Past Gymboree and Madden stock buys and sells will be putting a few of my kids thru college!
