    Default Replacement Puppy/guarantees

I have a puppy that is due me from a dog that failed its eye exam. Its been about 21 months I have waited for a replacement puppy from the breeder.

How long is "acceptable" to wait until its time to really press the issue?

Well I guess that would depend on the Availability of a replacement puppy.
If they have had a litter you should get a pup. If they have not had a litter, you would wait.
    Right ?

lee how was it written in the contract?

was he supposed to buy a pup of equal price and breeding from either your choice or their choice of litters?

Or, was it to come from an equalivent breeding from one of their own breedings?

just curious as i would like to know how to handle this as well

I would agree with John. If they have had litters they should have replaced. If not, that would be the reason. That is why some people don't guarantee a replacement. I remember I was told up front on Roady he wasn't guaranteed because they rarely bred, so I took my chances.

I'd agree with John also! Also I'd imagine the contract states "similar breeding" so I'd wait for a like quality breeding or better for 21 months, but if a couple nice one's have passed without any contact from the breeder, I'd renew your intentions for a pup with them.

I think 21 months is more than a reasonable wait for a breeder to satisfy a guarantee. I'd send certified mail and request proposed remedy with time frame commitment. Bet you never get another pup w/o at least having CERF done prior to pick up? If breeder does due diligence with appropriate clearances, why do they even offer a guarantee?
