Who are the best producing of the new generation stud dogs? Merlyn? Weezer? Drake?

What makes a good cross? Cosmo line on one side and who on the other? I am thinking Cosmo on one side and Merlyn on the other. Merlyn or Weezer? Maybe Patton or Hook? If you were looking to bring home a new puppy to try to run derby and then qualifying, which of these scenarios would you be looking for?

Let's hear what all you pros are seeing in your kennels and on the line.

New generation? CHOPPER. This opinion comes from talking to breeders and pros and having first hand knowledge.

If youre using the derby as your measuring stick. Maxx (76), Fargo (35) and Auggie (28) have a significant numbers advantage over the competition when it comes to progeny on the derby list this decade. Newcomers to the list in the last couple of years have been Auggie (28), Ranger (13), Pow (13), Patton (12), Chopper (7), & Viking (6); with Auggie having 2 3xs the progeny.

If I were in the market for a pup right now, I would be looking for a pup by FC AFC Hawkeye's Candlewood Shadow. There are some very experienced folks paying upwards of $3,000. for a pup from a litter currently on the ground. Of course, the stud is only half the story.

Their "get" are young. Find you a good female that produces. I think that's one of the best things I have learned on this forum. Good Luck.

I don't believe Weezer has very many puppys running at this point. I don't think he has very many offspring that are over two. And I don't believe he has been breed awhole lot either.
I've got one that is 20 monthes with Rick Stawski that I like, he jammed the North Fla. this weekend.

Best producer of what ?? Are we EXCLUSIVELY talking trial results ?
All the derby points in the world do not equate to an even average AA career.
Are we factoring in how many titled Hunt Test dogs they have produced ?
Are we condsidering the incidents of recordable joint issues relative to how many were checked vs. how many sired ?

Is this a one dimentional survey ?

It was stated Derby or Qualifying dogs. Looks like they are searching only FT studs. I agree with DRAKEHAVEN that I would be checking AA stats also. That said it will probably most of the same producers with exception of the young FT studs.
