IF worse comes to worse, you might want to consider taking the seams out of one, measure it up for what you need and re-sewing it at the proper size. I did it on a large and it really wasn't too tough. For thread, I used lacing cord which will never rot or break.

there are also places that custom make vests... I have a friend that had one made for her dog who is deep chested and small waisted. If you email at kristie@waterdogkennels.com I can forward your email to her and get you the info. You take the measurements and they make a vest that fits. It wasn't too much more than regular and you can pick out colors, etc.

Thank you for the replies. I think I will order the small vest. If it is still to big I will tailor it.
