Kidney Failure in Young Labs

I have heard that there are many cases of Kidney Failure in Labs/?dogs in the Northeast.
It seems that immune system starts attacking the body and the Kidneys eventually fail.
This is happening to dogs under 5 years.

Has anyone else heard of this? Would appreciate any information.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the immune systems or what you're looking for but my last dog was dx at 5 months with kidney failure and passed at 13 months. It was not genetic.

It may be because of the high presence of lyme disease, if left untreated or misdiagnosed it can and does effect kidney function as well as other organs like the liver.I lost a dog last year with kidney failure due to lyme but he was 12.5.. Jim
