Bob Attlelson Case

Cindy Cooke as an article in this month's Hunting Retriever that deals in part on the Bob Attleson case in Littleton, CO. In short, the animal control officers waited until they knew Mr. Attleson would be away and then they battered down his door and took his dogs. That was no apparent reason and to get his dogs back, he's had to agree to a punishment that far exceeds what could have been levied if found guilty. The problem is that his dogs would have been impounded and probably put down.

I've recently learned a hard lesson regarding the law and authorities. The police moto "protect and serve" is generally thought to pertain to the citizens of this country. BS. That moto is about protecting the law and serving the governments best interests. Your right as a citizen is to not incriminate yourself. You do not have to answer any questions an officer asks you, and you have the right to have legal representation when answering any questions. After my recent experience the only thing I have to say to a cop is

Am I under arrest? do you have a warrant for my arrest? If not I have nothing to say. If so, then read my rights and get my attorney present.
