Not so fast big fellow, I think he's talking about starting the Open on Sunday at the conclusion of the derby. Have the Am and the Qual. start on Friday as normal. There won't be anyone there to work the Open except the Pros. and the judges.

Now how do you get judges for Sun-Tues?

Actually there is a good reason for the Sunday start. We have the Fort Pitt trial on a state goose propogation area. Access is totally restricted until after June 1. Not open for discussion. The heat, and height of the vegetation keeps us from moving to a later date. They plant a lot of corn. Our date is the beginning of June which usually is OK.

Every few years it falls a day or two in May. In the past we've gone to new grounds, not as big, and a pain to the landowner.

Therefore the Sunday start, I think it's worse next year.

They prolly aint working men.

Not everyone works during the daylight hours on Monday through Friday. In some industries Saturday and Sunday are just like any other day.

Why are so many on this site wanting to cut numbers in the sport? Do you not think that if the sport is going to grow that numbers are the way to go? I think gas prices will wead out some of the novice entery for you. Just my thoughts......

Have you ever as an amateur had to work a 100-plus all-age stake? That is the problem behind many of us amateurs (grunts) favoring lower numbers, IMO, when the great majority of entries in stakes other than Amateur are being run by pros. I think it is called "burn-out."

Kudos to you all for caring enough about the sport to find a way to put on an event!

Besides, it's one of the LAST trials before the National Am, so I gots a feelin' some folks WILL show up!

Looks like the Open, Am, and Derby start on Sunday, the Qual starts on Monday.
