Hit a wall in FF...help?

7 month old Cosmo pup, understands how to turn the ear pinch off, and will go to the ground with pinch. Very inconsistent without ear pinch. He may give you 4 good fetches without a pinch and then on the 5th just look at you and not go again without a pinch.

Any ideas????

keep doing what you are doing. If he isn't consistant yet, then you aren't finished, keep going.

Maybe Angie B has an answer for this. It is my understanding that she has a little experience FFing tough dogs. From my own personal experience, keep at it until the dog has it down or find a pro to do this phase for you. It will save you time and trouble down the road.

Your building a new mannerism in the dog, that takes time. I'm reading into this that your have already started to not use pressure on every command well before the dog is is ready for that. At this stage I would be putting some pressure on every command until the dog is at the point of diving on the bumper from the ground.

Paul,is correct on this one,the foundation isn't solid enough to ask for and get 'freebies',continue ep until you see the dog really reaching for the buck or whatever your using,some dogs take longer to yield to this phase.
