    Default Even Better Gator attack

I heard about this yesterday form one of the officers that responded. According to him it was a bet that the kid could swim to the buoy without getting bit. Well he lost the bet. According to the officer it could not have happened to a nicer kid….. Nubbin Slough has nothing but BIG gators and I would bet 12 foot is the average size there.

OKEECHOBEE — An Okeechobee teen lost his arm to an alligator early Sunday, after he tried to swim across a canal.
Kasey Edwards, 18, was drinking with some friends at about 2 a.m. at Nubbin Slough, a canal that empties into Lake Okeechobee, when he went into the canal, said OkeechobeeCounty sheriff's Detective Ted Van Deman. An 11-foot alligator rose from the water and bit Edwards, trying to drag him down.
Edwards fended off the attack by grabbing an orange buoy in the water, Van Deman said, but the alligator bit off Edwards' left arm below the shoulder.
Edwards swam to the other side of the canal, where his friends met him and called for help.
Edwards was flown to HolmesRegionalMedicalCenter in Melbourne.
Rescuers captured the alligator and found Edwards' arm in its stomach but the arm was too damaged to reattach, Van Deman said.
Nubbin Slough is a fishing spot that is well-known for having alligators, Van Deman said. The detective said that while at the site on Monday he counted 13 alligators.

If the gator had bitten something else off it would have benefited the genetic pool of the our species.
What its prominence suggest, and what all science confirms is that the dog is a creature of the nose- A. Horowitz.

no more dangerous mix than alcohol and testosterone...still feel just a wee bit bad for the guy - I've done plenty of stupid things and gotten away with 'em, though swimmin' in gator infested waters would take enough alcohol that I wouldn't be able to walk to the water to try it.
