simple poultry pen

This afternoon I built a portable poultry pen out of an old trampoline frame and wire fencing - will be adding 'houses' that attach to the outside of the pen so that the ducks/chickens can escape the elements and I can collect eggs more easily....and of course food and water containers! LOL

Eventually will add a post to the center, with which I can put bird netting over, like a tent..to keep the ducks in..but they are still babies right now and can't fly...either that or chicken wire (or old volleyball nets) across the top...

got the frame for free from craigs list!

I have a friend who bought one of those long greenhouse things they use to start plants in when it's cold. You know what I'm talking about? Its about ten feet high with a round top and about forty feet long, maybe fifteen feet wide. He covered the frame with netting and he's got a flight pen. Works like a charm, wish I'd taken some pics. The tornado got it.

Julie, you'll need the top to keep hawks and owls from sharing your training birds with you. I'm not to sure in the Tok area about having to bury the wire sides to keep martin, mink and weasles out.
