Interesting. Who would have thought the chocolate color came from pointers. I can see the field lines having some greyhound but the foxhound and flat coat were unexpected. My dogs stubborn nature is surely from some foxhound.

This was a very interesting article into the history of some of the color origins.
I knew that flatcoats were used, actually quite frequently if you go back far enough in a dogs pedigree, but did not realize that they were using foxhounds and greyhounds or pointers for that matter. Funny, because I have 3-4 different "types" of labs out of our 10 dogs. They range from the really old style of lab to the greyhound looking ones! But we love them all the same.![]()
