Talking With all the statistics running around lately.....

What's the odds of having 8 females out of a 9 pup litter? Well That's what I had. Not to bad either their grandparents were the parents of 2006 NFC and 2008 NAFC....

I don't know if it's good or bad...my fiance prefers the girls, I prefer the boys.

I had a cool litter last year. Litter of 9 out of a yellow and black, 3 were yellow, one of those was a female, 6 were black, two of which were female, so 1/3 was yellow, 1/3 of each color was female.

We had the exact thing happen.

In the last 2 years we've had only 2 females & about 14 males. There's something in the water.

I'll give you two answers to the question. Since you have already had the litter, the odds are 100% since that is an established fact. But the answer to the question you probably wanted, for a future litter to have exactly 8 females and one male, the answer is 1.76%.

It was impossible, so it took a little longer to accomplish.

Breed long enough and you will have every combination, but I did use my data for statistics problems, and it comes out almost 50/50% with a tad more males. Colors can be interesting. I've had rainbow litters with only one black and 4-5 chocolates and yellows. (supposed to be 25% black and was 10%) and even black to black where there was more color. I've heard someone note that closest to the ideal conception time you will get more males, but the problem is determining the ideal conception time which you can't always by progesterones because of the variability of the values between females. I just bred a bitch that went from 3.77 to 32.97 2 days later. We'll see.
