Default Going to the 2012 Para Olympics

With all the talk of the Olympics i guess i will let the cat out of the bag, Friday i was informed i could start training for the 2012 London Para Olympics. I will compete in track and field in one or two of the throwing events ie.-hammer throw, discus, shot put, or javelin. with 6'2'' 230lb leg amputees in short supply i was asked if i would consider competing from a local sports director. so what did i say" HELL YEAH!!!!!!" I was told i would be expected to put on about 30 more pounds of muscle. luckily they set it up that i will be able to train with a local university( MTSU ). With my build they think i could be very dominate so to say i am excited would be an understatement. oh yeah i saw another thread about holding it together on the podium, given the opportunity i think i would cry like a baby

Good on ya Jason - hope your training goes well and that you do dominate! Now get away from your computer - you only got 4 years to get ready!!!

When we lived in Vail I had the opportunity to meet several folks who competed in the Paragames in alpine sports - very inspirational folks with incredible attitudes !

Hey Cool! Joie tried out for the paralympic team -- and had previously held world records in shotput and javelin in disabled sports events. He was having a hard time around the trials and missed by something like a couple hundredths of something or another. Gosh, it was so long ago... He was 6'7" and a big guy, bilateral BK. Yeah, not many of those going around. GOOD LUCK! It sounds like a super opportunity with lots of support. Have a great time!!

That's cool.We have a business that works with metal tubing and helped to design a hockey sled for Winter Para Olympics. We were proud that 8 of our sleds were on the U.S.Gold Medal team in 2002.We worked with a few of the atheletes during the design of the sled. What a great bunch of people. My brother is still very active with adaptive sports and the people involved that we met during that project.
