Same here, 2 carriers, 1 clear, now awaiting the results of the three offspring that I have of the two carriers plus some other relatives. Going to be interesting once I have them all back to see how the statistics carry through.

People don't be sorry this has been around for a very long time. It just lets us know how not to produce it any more. We have been trying to breed around it for years. It just stinks when you ask a stud owner if there has been an affected dog produce out of there stud and they say no but the one of your pups test as affeced. Hmmmmmmm. Then you call the stud owner to let them know and they say" Yea there has been 5-6 affected dogs now".

That is why I am happy for the test good, bad, I won't be producing any more affected pups.

No kidding, it's hardly a tragedy, now the tools are there to breed around it for the future. Of my two known carriers so far, the only direct ancestor they share is 5 generations back on one, great granddam on the other, guesswork at best to go by pedigree, now there's a real scientific method for knowing. In comparison, I've tested 9 dogs for CNM so far and all clear.

Same sire as one of my carriers. Why I'm not terribly upset about EIC carrier status, I'd take another of his pups in a heartbeat. He's produced awesome dogs. Now we can go forward from here without losing him or ones like him while avoiding affected offspring, which is the whole point of testing, avoiding the bad, keeping the good.
