Humane Society Endorses Sen. Obama for President
9/23/08
Yesterday, the Humane Society of the United States Legislative Fund (HSLF) endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D- IL) for President.
Claiming to have run a thoroughly bipartisan process, the HSUS’ legislative arm’s Board unanimously selected the Obama-Biden Presidential ticket as its candidate. In announcing the endorsement, it referred to Sen. Obama’s responses to a candidate questionnaire in which he pledged support for nearly every animal protection bill currently pending in Congress” as a major reason for their support.
Furthermore, in the same announcement, it savaged Republican vice presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, saying: “Her record is so extreme that she has perhaps done more harm to animals than any other current governor in the United States.” It also criticized Gov. Palin’s decision to file a suit against the Department of the Interior for listing polar bears as “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
