New Russian Made O/U's (GDG)

Looking for some advice.

I need a new shot gun. I have been thinking about the low price over unders. Joe's had a Remington Russian made O/U for under $400. They are also selling a Mossberg, Turkish made O/U for around the same price range. The Mossberg finish looks a little nicer but, I don't care much about cosmetics.

Anyone have any opinions on these?

Otherwise, I certainly would consider buying a used O/U but, I can't find any for sale. I am not looking for high style or price. Just a hunting gun I won't feel bad about stuffing behind the seat of my truck.

Any experience with these? Comments are really appreciated. Thanks, Paul

I have a Turkish made O/U, have had it for 6 years now and use it pretty much all the time - I would recommend one. It isn't the expensive pretty one, but the ducks and pheasants don't care.....

For about the same price you can get a Stoeger O/U. Stoeger is owned be Benelli. I have one I shot trap with.

the Russian Baikal imported by Remington are pieces of junk,they kick like a mule.the Huglu ( Turkish imported ) were being redone by De Haan out of Idaho but according to their website they no longer offer them. I have tried them and they are ok but they had a reputation of doubling ( both barrels firing simultaneously)....pick your poison...not trying to sound like a snob but when it come to an O/U pay for a good one or you may have to pay twice....and yes I do shoot an O/U for skeet...

I have heard of Stoeger's. I will look around a little. Unsually, when I start looking, I start buying.......I try not to look too hard for things I want and don't really need but, this time, need is here.

My 870 isn't ejecting shells anymore....retractors(not sure of actual name) are worn or the chamber has too much brass build up again. I have had it polished at a gunsmith twice and it seemed to cure the problem for a little while.

Otherwise, I have had it since I was 16 and I am now 34. I guess it is time for retirement.

What brand? The clerk at Joe's said the Mossberg's are Turkish made.

Thanks for the link Troy. That is the same Mossberg selling at Joe's for $489. Of course, it doesn't come with the extra 20G barrels......ok, just called Joe's,

Remington SP-R 10 12G O/U $399
Mossberg (he didn't know model) $489
SPR (another Russian brand?) $489 this one looks just like the Mossberg

I'll have to look when I get home - my friend did a tour over there and brought it back for me.....got 2 for the $500 That covered paying for the guns, import taxes and a little for my friend. Gave one to my boyfirend at the time - now husband......he's so lucky to have me

I have a Turkish Houglu O/U and love it. Great gun for the money. I beleive fit is the most important aspect.
