I just got off the phone with a friend who told me of the passing of a dear friend of mine. Some of you may remember his name from NAHRA days, John Elmes, Sr.
The nut of this story is we trained several dogs for Big John, our favorite was a dog named Case. BIG YLM. Mark a fly on a three day old dead duck. Running 300 yards blinds at about 10 months of age. He was my boy Blu all over again. Anyway...I found out just recently that Case had to be put down because he became very ill. I wanted to pick up the phone and call Big John and tell him and his wife how very sorry we were to hear the news and how much we loved Case. I got distracted in the moment and never did that. Now I won't have the chance.
So, here is my thought: Life is too short. Pick up the phone when you think about it. Make an effort to stroke a couple of keys on the computer cause ya' may not have the chance later. Never let an opportunity to do the nice/right thing pass you by, you never know when or if you will have chance to do it again.
With that in mind:
To those that I may have pissed off during this political season: I know you love this country every bit as much as I do. We just see the best route of travel for our coutry going in different directions, that's all. I'll keep that in mind the next time we discuss the future of what we can all agree is the greatest nation on the face of the earth.
Please Say A Prayer For Big John And His Family Regards,
Joe S.
