Default Whether Obama or McCain GDG

Regardless of who you support we should have our government institute the FairTax system. No longer a need for filing, no IRS, You would be taxed by your rate of a National Sales Tax. Your tax is based on what you bought those who buy more luxury items would pay higher taxes.

So would FT enteries be considered a luxury item? At almost $80+ a entry I'm begining to think it is

FT and HT have always been luxury items, thoroughbred racing may be the sport of kings, but Retriever games are for the rich and famous, and soon to be poor and homeless

Oh no. Why penalize us. Dogs are clearly luxury items.

I think what Mr. Halstead is referring to is that luxury items cost more therefore the $amount would be higher.

The tax would be a flat tax, say 10% the more expensive an item the more you would pay in taxes.

This is actually a regressive tax. Those with lower incomes use a greater percentage of their income to purchase goods and services than those with a higher income. Higher income save/invest a greater percentage of their income which would not be taxed.

It would put a greater burden on the lower income. I could see the arguement for a flat tax rate or the progressive tax rates we have now but not a sales tax.
