This poll is not to ask you guys what you think we should do. POTUS Place, for now, is the newest piece of RTF.

I didn't pick an option because I don't quite fit, but I do think that it keeps the forum from being overwhelmed with political posts.

I think it a great idea, those who don't want to participate don't have to go there. I would ask you not lock any threads, but seriously consider eliminating participation privileges for those who believe personal attacks to be acceptable.

Chris, it probably will calm down now that the election is over. This was a very heated election and there were some hot feelings running rampart. I did at least do one thing right......I convinced a Democart running for a local office to vote for McCain......LOL

Personalkly I like the idea of an arean for political debate on RTF. I also think that if the mods have the capability to do so that instead of locking an entire thread, just offending posts should be removed.

I didn't vote. I am obviously one that has enjoyed some of the political discussions on the forum in large part because of the extent to which my own views have been at variance with the majority posting here. This has forced me to research and think about my positions more carefully than would have been the case had I simply discussed politics with my more liberal friends who look on my dog activities and my gun ownership as some form of aberration in my otherwise admirably liberal character. Now that the election has ended, I am hopeful that the number of political threads will decline to the more normal occasional buzz, making a separate forum unnecessary until the next election. However, maybe it will actually stimulate on-going discussion of political issues for those of us who enjoy such contact sports in between running and training our dogs.
