Major Lawrence Sundstrom, CoE, Battle of the Bulge, my Father

1st Lt Lennart Sundstrom, Tank Destroyers, Battle of the Bulge, my Uncle

S/Sgt Adney Sundstrom, Infantry, Pacific Theater, my Uncle

This is all I know, when they were discharged there was a reluctance to even discuss what they had seen. I do remember the fancy German uniforms they brought back as souvenirs & the Japanese guns that had to be hand fitted as they were not produced to any standard.

Maj. Donald L. Smith, Sr., my dad, who passed away on May 4, 2002. He not only served with distinction, but served as a military governor in Landkreis (county) Ebern after the war. His memoirs, written before his death, are enshrined in the Ebern museum http://www.wwiimemorial.com/registry...eeid=&preview=

and my uncle, Capt. Willis R. Ables, one of Dad's subordinate officers, who is still with us at almost 89 and without whom, my parents would never have met. http://www.wwiimemorial.com/registry...eeid=&preview=

And, thank God that the snipers twice missed Dad. I have his sleeping bag, which was rolled up behind him in the jeep and which bears the bullet holes left by a round that missed him.
