Are there many 6 month old pups for sale?

I was looking through the classifieds and was surprised at how many 6 and 7 month old pups were for sale. While there was only one that would fit what I would be looking to do, of course she was sold yesterday, I was starting to consider that an option. I do have several very nice dogs that I am considering, but I am thinking about looking at this as a secondary option. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to better persue this as an option besides waiting for one to hit the classifieds. Maybe some puppy raisers? Let me know if anyone knows of any as well...

I'd check with the known, successful young dog trainers (assuming you want a FT caliber pup). Especially in this economy when some pup owners may be having 2nd thoughts about putting another pup into training.

That's most likely a reflection of the puppy market being swamped.

I think some pro's take a pup or two on their winter trip and end up selling them later on. That might be a way of getting what you are looking for. HPW

Those are some good suggestions. I do like 8 week old pups but my daughter becomes very attached to them which makes it a bit more difficult to wash them out if they do not make it.

There does seem to be a lot of young pups out there. I guess people are looking closely at putting another pup in training. I does make sense though. I know that I was thinking hard about only having one dog in training.
