Anybody raise their own turkeys? GDG
I was recently given 2 juvenile domestic turkeys - I'm guessing they're 6 weeks old - and I was wondering how long they will take to mature and be "table ready".
As an aside, they are the most unfortunate looking creatures. Seem to get on well with the ducks, so far.

I have not raised any turkeys, but I sure know a bunch of them.

I used to buy them in the spring and butcher in the fall so I suppose 6 months unless they roost on the dog kennels or horse trough. The main problem with turkeys is they don't do well if they get wet and they do stupid things.

Man this post brings back some funny memories- first year my wife raised them in Ak she used the Horse stalls- 12 dumb birds in there from spring to fall (not long in AK ,May- Sept) lucky for us neighbor lady who was from NC knew how to pluck them- fun but feathers everywhere- next year we used our Fox pens to raise them- had to shoot them with my .22 in the pens to get them out as they were too big to grab and get out small door- now that was really a comical day- Not for PETA i suppose--
I wonder if my winger can launch one of those?
I've raised two and have a 14-year-old at home now. Oh wait, you mean birds. Sorry.
