Great Achievement always takes a toll on those who have the courage to make the journey.......

I hope to become the man my dogs think I am.--anon
A true great of this game and a true gentleman.
He will be missed.

Possibly the GREATEST! I am so sorry to hear of his loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with Kay and their family.
I am so grateful to have shared the dinner table with him over the years; his great stories of this sport made a simple dinner last for hours. My first memory of him as a child was him telling dad "You sure did mark her well," and he reminded us both of it every time we saw him. So glad I was able to see him just last spring for the last time. Dinner with him and John McAssey...two of the biggest contributors this sport will ever know! Even when we all knew he wasn't feeling that well, he was the life of the party!
The field trial game has lost a class act, hell of a story teller, and true, true dear friend. It's never easy to hear of another "Old Timer" leaving us. If you love field trials, then you love him...very few will ever be able to leave a mark on this sport like Jay Sweezey!
Warmest regards,
Jordan
Being a new guy in the game, it's always been comforting to show up at a trial and see Jay and Kay there. Helps put me at ease. What a great couple to share time, rub elbows with. Always friendly, supportive, eager to help. Make you feel at home. We'll miss JJ Sweezey. He is a one-percenter. I'm not saying "was". He's the kind of guy you hope to carry around with you, for the rest of your life, deep in the middle of your chest. Right there with anybody for whom you're a better man for knowing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

I just heard about Jay's passing. My most sincere condolences to Kay and the Sweezey family. Having lived the past 10 years about 10 minutes from Jay and Kay, I can attest to the fact that Jay was a well known local and well respected.
Our thoughts and prayers,
Vicky & Will Trainor
