Default ALL USERS PLEASE READ! Potus Place Culture...

As the janitor of RTF, I'm sure that it comes as no surprise to users that I do not care for much of the dialogue that takes place on this subforum.
Due to my lack of interest in political debate, I don't read this subforum like I do the main board. It has been brought to my attention, and I've also seen evidence during my occasional viewing of POTUS Place, that there's a false perception among some of RTF's users.

POTUS Place does not have a different standard, regarding acceptable culture, from the main RTF forum. Respectful, non-attacking exchanges are still required on this subforum. Defamatory, profane, demeaning, pornographic, and similar content is still outside the RTF limits on this subforum.

RTF and its forums are not about me or my personal preferences. RTF is for the use of its members to respectfully exchange information and viewpoints. It was for this reason, that the POTUS Place subforum was created. It is a spot for those of you who enjoy discussing political issues in the gallery, to do so while still in the confines of good ol' RTF.

Those crossing the line (the stuff referenced in bold print above) are prone to account locking and usage privelege termination.

Please, all, have fun on RTF. But please refer to others here as you yourself would like others to address yourself.

    Sincere thanks,

    Chris

Thanks for the post Chris. Seems like the children will always need a gentle reminder on being civil in a diverse society.

Did I miss something? I am appreciative of POTUS PLACE & do not want to see it go away, as I'm sure there are others that are glad the politico's have their own little closet.

But I am serious about missing something. Not being from the PC age I sometimes do not understand what would be considered demeaning in today's vernacular.

One side is gloating in the we won mode while the other side is saying the win was with a candidate of dubious merit, so the dialogue continues, as the winner of the marbles will now receive the same treatment as the sitting POTUS. At the least the new losing side will not have to manufacture issues as there appear to be many unreported & unresolved.

Chris - this post is not meant to challenge anything you stated in your post as I agree with what you have posted, just want to be sure I understand.

You do have to admit there is quite a thread on acceptable public displays that has proven we have a few arm chair theologians in our midst.

You have a nice day, I always figure we are doing well when we don't hear from you. Marvin

    BTW, thanks for the smilies!!!

I'd say the discourse on here is very civil. Those of us that like to discuss these things understand that you, Chris, were by no means obligated to create this sub forum for us and while the conversation may get heated from time to time I have seen nothing lately that crosses the line. As an added benefit I really think there is some very thoughtful arguments made by both sides and while minds may not change it does make us think, not a bad thing.
My feeling is that some will be offended by political dialouge no matter what, but as a general rule I have seen more inflamatory stuff on the training side over the years than I am seeing here.

Yeah... But we're not talking politics here lately, we're talking religion, and if there is anything more likely to inflame, I don't know it.
This sub-forum is titled 'POTUS PLACE' and discussing and agreeing or not, on politics or the President Elect, is one thing... but religious beliefs are quite another.

    JDogger,

    Thanks for pointing that out.

We've made it known in the past that Religious debate is off limits for RTF.

If you guys are debating religion on RTF, please discontinue it. This subforum is to debate political stuff, not religion.

    Thanks,

    Chris

It seems politics and religion are very close cousins sometimes. Honestly, I was not aware of any rule prohibiting religion in discussion. Apologies to you, and I am aware now and will respect your wishes.

Thanks for providing a great place for retriever addicts to shoot the breeze out of the weather, and any time we wish from our homes. We appreciate it.

that would be me? I didn't know I crossed the line. in the license plate thread?
I apologize to Mother Teresa. But I thought that was a great thread. We were talking court rulings right? We were in agreement on the religion part, I thought. I'll try not to reference parables to make my point in the future

Everything was fine until Ken came along ...with his maple syrup and deer pictures. What kind of guy makes holes in trees and eats the stuff?
just kidding ...I enjoyed the discussion as well.

I do not equate a discussion of the constitutional issue of separation of church and state with a discussion of religion per se. We have had a couple of instances where individuals have been respectfully asked to explain their religious perspectives. My impression is that the responses have been direct and treated with complete respect, not debated. All in all, particularly after the anger that accompanied the election process, I have been very pleasantly surprised at the thoughtfulness and respect shown in the discussions on POTUS despite the potentially inflamatory nature of some of the issues addressed. It would be nice if people with such varied attitudes could have similarly respectful conversations in our broader society.
