Dog won't eat

Ok I noticed yesterday morning my YLM didnt eat all his food the night before. Went and got him out of his pen this morning to go hunting and he had bout a 1/4 of the bowl left. I gave him a bath after the hunt and brought him in the house to keep a better eye on him and plus been having a few high priced dogs get stolen around the house. Gave him his food and he wouldn't eat unless I was holding the bowl and only had a few bites then. He doesn't act like anything is wrong and still has ALOT of energy. I am calling the vet. in the morning also. If anyone could help would be appreciated.

Having the dog checked out by the vet is always a safe plan.

Other than not eating, how is he acting?

Has he pooped lately?

My dog will from time to time skips a meal. I don't worry too much if she misses a meal every now and again so long as everything else seems normal.

Well he went out bout an hour ago and pooped fine. He is acting fine and is passed out right now. But I am going to check with the vet. anyway.

Weird, mine has been behaving the same way today. I just got him to drink some water and eat his first bowl of food, a few minutes ago.

He didn't eat it very fast and he hacked a couple of times.

Check to see if his gums are pink or red (white means he's in shock). His temperature should be around 101. If you've been hunting him for the last few days, he may just be worn out. Obviously, not eating is not normal, so best to get him checked out.

his gums are pink and today was his only day out this weekend hunting. I will let yall know what the vet says tommorow. Thanks

one of my old clms did that. Lasted for 2 days before i took him to vet. Ended up he had a blockage. They pumped him full of fluid and he finally passed whatever it was.

Funny as hell seeing a lab with grapefruit sized knots on his back.

2 main culprits... bitch in heat or problem in his mouth (cracked tooth or something similar) IF everything else is ok.

could also just have an upset stomach for some reason.

could be a blockage, but you'd usually see something else with that -- vomiting, not passing stool, lower energy, dehydration.

my dog does this from time to time, just won't eat. and then he'll go for 4-5 days eating every meal like its his last, then back to "picking" at his food for a couple days. it really varies though. but after any activity like hunting, he always eats.

Mine do this when they are tired of the brand of food they are on. I just buy a small bag of something and mix it and then they eat it for a day or too and then they are totally fascinated with the "new" stuff.
