I got my first limit today
of pintail, which in WA is 1! But it was my first shot EVER and I hit it. So, we'd been hunting for all of 5 minutes and I limited out. We were fighting sideways rain and 50 mph winds, and somehow I managed to actually hit it. Miracles do happen.
Going somewhere else tomorrow to try and get some Mallards since the only thing flying where we were is Pintail.

The fields off old 99 and Praire Rd. were loaded yesterday, the birds are really starting to come in. We're off to the slough this morning...good luck today Pat

Congrats on the pintail. A pintail is certainly nothing to sneeze at. We don't get near the numbers of them here in Ohio that you do out there. Some friends of mine have been getting into them lately, taking nice mountable drakes, but nothing is hitting my fields. Still a couple of weeks to hope, though.

Don, there were thousands of pintails out there yesterday and you could only shoot one per person. I think all day we saw 3 Mallards.
I baked my grandma's apple pie for the guy who is letting us hunt on his property. He won't take money, but my husband figured that a good warm pie (like in the oven right now, still warm when we get there tonight) should smooze enough to give us rights to hunt there!

Here, mallards and black ducks are our stock in trade. Oh, and tons of giant Canada geese.
If you bake me an apple pie, you can hunt my land. I know it's a bit of a drive, though. LOL
