When do you start heeling both sides?
Is this a must? I do unerstand it is for Field Trials but do you need it for hunting or Hunt Test?

I start it in my puppy training, beginning at around 10 weeks with treat training, and maintain it. It's only another tool, but can sure be handy. Not just for competition, but in a goose pit when you may want your dog to work off of either end. Same with some duck hunting situations. Much more.

It's not for field trial as much as it is for the safety of the dog depending on wether your left handed or right. There is some benifit to field trials or hunt test if your dog pushes or pulls when you send him. But there have been many great dogs that were strictly one side dogs.
it's too simple to pass by if you do it as part fo your initial obedience.
