100% voted against the 900 billion stimulus package. Great move in making the Democrats take complete ownership of this plan that is mere folly. 300 billion allocated to earmarks/pork! Obomo promised the American people he could make everything better. They were gullible enought to elect him. This 900 billion fiasco is no small mistake, the results could be a disaster. There is more bad financial news coming from some large banks. MCCain made the mistake in his campaign of not leveling with the American people in that we can't buy our way or throw enogh money at this problem. I fault him for supporting any bailout plan during his campaign. What he should have told us was that we need to fix the problem and it's going to be tough. Voters would have rallied behind him. Instead, we have a rookie promising pie in the sky and lets spend our way out of this. The 900 billion stimulus package is going to cost us dearly! We can't afford the interest much less paying it back and printing more money just makes our dollar worth less. What will the Chinesse and their Arab investors want for collatral?

Thats the problem with career politicians, they for the most part tell us what they think will get them votes. They need the votes because they need the job! Most of them couldn't make a living on thier own. We need strict term limits and get folks that want to SERVE for a short period and then go back to their jobs/careers. These career professional politicians are killing us! We are broke, our borders are broke, many of our roads are broke and more. Yet, they just smile on TV and act as if they aren't accoutable for the mess. Having folks that served for a short period then leave would allow them to make the tough choices that are good for the country instead of lying for votes and selling us out.

While this was a posturing vote, it is a welcome sight to see. Also note that 11 D's voted against this pork laden package. We will see what happens when the prelims are over & the votes are for real.

Of interest is the fact that most of the committee chairs are real lefties, like some on this forum, who exercise more leverage than their actual numbers should give them.

I didn't think the Republicans had the coconuts to do it. Good for them.

Eventually the Chinese and other foreign governments will just stop funding our massive debt and then we'll see some real problems. We'll see our soverign debt downgraded pretty soon which will just make the problems worse.

It's every man for himself in this country. Spend happy politicians have ruined us and it's too late for a comeback.

The sad thing is, the 'have nots' in this country are rapidly approaching the point where they're going to outnumber the self sufficient 'haves' that support them, and then what? The 'have nots' that have never had to earn a living are now telling the rest of us what to do and will soon be running a number of businesses that will probably be nationalized like banks and auto makers. Remember, you can have money and still be a 'have not' if you inherited it or any of it came from collecting a government check--whether for a grant, Section 8, WIC, crop subsidy, paycheck for a civil service, appointed or elected government job. We now even have one running the country: a man who was a 'community activist' (e.g. grant spender) before he became an elected official. And let's not forget we have a pack of congressional and senatorial 'lifers', those that have been at their job voting themselves raises and special retirement plans so long they've completely lost touch with the real world.

Heck, they already out number the "haves". Take the "have nots" out of the voting equation and McCain wins by a landslide. What we have is bad government buying votes on the backs of the productive "haves". A lot of this is covered in the book, "The Browning Of America". Anyone noticed how illegal immigartion wasn't discussed in any of the debates? Neither candidate wanted to touch that issue with a 10 foot pole. Just one example of tax payers being sold out. The election of Obomo is one giant step in the wrong direction. His administration will further weaken our economy (don't believe what the press says because they love him), weaken our military, and out intelligence agancies. That's why countries envious of the USA are so delighted with him.

Noticed yesterday when he deverted attention away from the 900 billion bailout folly and started talking about how Washatonians can't handle snow and ice? The press ate it up laughing and never asked any tough questions nor got back on subject about the bailout!

not disagreeing with you, but do you have any data to back that up? or is that opinion?

i haven't put time into researching the contrary, so i won't say you're wrong, but you stated that like it is fact. just wondering.

I work in an industry that is flooded with all kinds of research. Any success I've had is due to my instincts.
With that said, all one has to do is look at the ethnic breakdown of who voted for whom in this last election. I'm not saying that only deadbeats voted the Democrat ticket, just that the "have nots and folks that don't pay taxes" were the difference in this past election.

I'll add that I was surprised at how the Hispanic voters turned their backs on McCain. GWB did'nt want to confront the illegal immigration problem because he didn't want to isolate the Hispanic vote, Yet, the Hispanic vote came back and bit the Republicans on the butt. I hope the GOP learned something from this.
