Couldn't happen to a more corrupt individual. The nation is bound to be better off. It's sad that some continue to buy into his life as a scoundrel, with his multi-million bucks lifestyle as a so-called consultant. And the nation is unhappy with the high payments to CEOs, but they overlook the likes of a Dashole and others like him.

Got to give him some Sodak credit...he at least had enough sense to realize he would be a drag on the administration. Too bad the AG and Treasurer Sec don't have that same sense of chagrin. But then, they were taught by a former POTUS that never knew a day of shame in his entire life.

One down and a whole gaggle more to get rid of!

How come only one news outlet is questioning Obomo on the hiring of Lobbyist for his Cabinet and other high postions when in his campaign, he PROMISED no lobbyist on his team?

Classic example of tell the voters one thing and then do the opposite!

I'm having trouble figuring out which news outlet you are praising for reporting the hiring of lobbyists. Was it CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/...sts/index.html), ABC News (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...-pick-for.html), The NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/24/us...ml?_r=1&ref=us), or NBC (http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/us_world/NATL-Obama-Picks-Lobbyist-as-Pentagon-No-2.html)?

It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

I think Dashle saw the writing on the wall knew his chances at confirmation were sinking by the day (the NYT op-ed didn't help, I'm sure)and bailed...it wasn't any high-browed notion of not wanting to drag the Obama Admin. down.

Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin said Daschle did the "honorable thing" by preventing an "arduous political struggle."
"It's just the kind of class move you'd expect from a person like Tom Daschle," Durbin said.

That's a quote from our own Illinois Senator Dick Durbin. He says that Daschle has "Class". I suppose that after our Governor was impeached, Durbin needs somebody else to look up to. After being used to Illinois politics, even Daschle looks good to him now.

You can pretty much bet that the only thing going through Dasholes head at this moment is how stupid he was not to turn down the appointment sooner, so he wouldn't have had to pay all that tax.

As for Durbin, that also says a lot when we get his definition of 'class'.

And regardless of how this is spun out, please avoid your attempt of questioning my intelligence, Jeff, by telling us about some bad deed by a Republican. You or someone in your camp has succeeded in convincing one of your toadies...Remington...that this Obama cabinet corruption is no worse than those in the Bush cabinet. But he's a tad short on the proof, just following the socialist crowd.

Best suggestion I heard today was to have the IRS do a tax assessment on every member in the Federal Government. Wonder how many more we might expose with a real anal IRS exam. The last I went through was no fun, but at least I passed to the extent they don't bug me anymore. An apparent waste of time. But as it's shaping up in Washington, they may be in for some huge rewards should they go after the real big bucks.

    Getting a little sensitive UB?

I will admit that I've posted some things questioning your facts, and on more than one occasion the fact that you sometimes post the right wing blurb of the week without regard for accuracy, but I have never questioned your intelligence. You in turn have challenged me for recommending higher taxes (which I never did unless that's how you interpret paying our bills), being a socialist (which I'm not) where all I've done is to show that the socialist peril you fear seems to have only benefited the wealthy, and now you accuse me of trying to excuse Daschle's tax problems which, if you look, you'll see I never did. I defended the specific charges against Geither in a very limited way, but never commented on Daschle at all. I don't particularly like him and hope Obama will now come up with someone better.

With respect to corruption in the Obama administration, I think we'll know a lot more in a couple of years. There will inevitably be some. What is interesting is that the tax issues that have come up so far were discovered during the vetting process and publicized from the beginning. That's a little different from being caught with your pants down.
