In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.

Kurt Schulz in Burlington, Vermont and Todd Gauger in Norway, Maine are two very good ortho surgeons. Dr. Schulz wrote a textbook on small animal ortho surgeries and pioneered some real breakthroughs in surgery. My vets in Maine think so much of this practice that they refer sporting/working dogs all the way to vermont, even bypassing Tufts and Angel Memorial etc.
Dr, Gauger is board certified and very skilled, experienced, and does 100s.
Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy
The most widely used technique in treatment of CCLR by board certified surgeons is the TPLO. In this technique, the lower bone of the joint (tibia) is cut and rotated to eliminate the abnormal motion of the knee during normal activity. The advantage of this procedure is that it does not rely on materials that can stretch or break to stabilize the knee. We recommend TPLO in most of our medium and large patients and particularly in more active dogs.

there's no good reason to fatten up a retriever.
Is that the Dr. Pond with the British accent? He did a spectacular job on my sister's Chessie if so!

I've used Dr. Jeff Berzon in W. Hartford, CT.
I realize that alot enters into a successful outcome of TPLO surgery, up to and including how the dog is rehabilitated. I have seen these surgerys have sad results because of the owners half hearted rehabilitation attempts. I thought I might benefit from past experiences of RTF users in making the first importent step of choosing the right doctor to start. After the surgery, it will be up to me.
Thank all of you for your suggestions.
