don't see anything in the article that calls into question the FACT that the majority of Americans favor the stimulus bill. I wouldn't say that it is a *small* minority that opposes it, but it is still a minority.


As it turns out, people across the political spectrum are responding favorably to President Obama and his proposals:

That is what one calls a glitch in thier methodology. I look at ratings and polls all the time and can spot an error due to poor sampling. Post those figures for end of Feb when those numbers are published and I'll bet they are no higher than the low 20's at best.

The Rasmussen Reports are interesting. They show that, since the inauguration, Obama's strong approval rating has averaged 40.2% and is now 41%, strong disapproval averaged 22.7% and is now 26%, approval has averaged 60.7% and is now 60%, and disapproval has averaged 37% and is now 40%. I read that as indicating a high degree of approval with a minor, but relatively small increase in disapproval. Are you seeing a different trend?

How is it good that the Republican party is in the gutter? It's good because the electorate has thrown them out and brought in someone who is 'analytical' (to quote Sec. of Defense Gates) over someone who acts on instinct (and bad instinct at that). And, given the current trends, it doesn't look like the Republican party is coming back anytime soon (particularly when you have Rush and Steele battling over who is the leader of the party).

How is it good that the economy is in the gutter? It's not good, but we are reaping what the Bush admin has been sowing for the past 8 years (with lots of help from a Republican Congress for most of that time).

The idea that the current economic situation is the fault of an adminstration that has been in power for less than 2 months (rather than the adminstration that has spent the past 8 years sowing what we are now reaping) is another part of the silly stuff that the Republican party is trying to peddle. And no one other than the dwindling hard-core base is buying it.

Obama was elected to bring change. He is bringing it, and the Republican base is screaming about it. Surprise, surprise. Meanwhile, the majority of Americans support him and his performance. That is reality.

As usual, this thread doesn't disappoint those who come for the nasty rhetoric -- it only took a few posts for the Obama/Hitler comparisons. That kind of rhetoric is definitely going to help the Republican party regain the trust of the American people.
