I'm afraid I did but I'm somewhat radical on the subject
so I won't get into it now other than to say I was disgusted
beyond reason. What I think should be done is illegal so......
It is what it is....

Yeah, PA bites. (talking from experience).
The philosophy of dog care is the same as the so called breeder interviewed by most of the mass breeders here.
A giant 'hamster wheel' to exercise?? And the explaination that outdoors the dog might roll in grass, mud, or water - and not like it??
Unfortunately, many of the Amish puppy mills (truly are) are considered like cattle breeding or livestock. If there was a "demand" for dogs as a food source, they would be filling the grocery stores. They often view dogs as substandard to their livestock and less important. Insane...
Really interesting - Notice the "pooper scooper" brush. It was a wooden mop-like squeegee that was controlled by pullies and ropes. (Not mechanically operated since the Amish don't believe in electricty usage as part of their religious beliefs). However, notice the electric lights overhead, or the Computer - to sell dogs online or advertise?? Kind of a mixed-philosophy.
Also unfortunately, that Nightline segment will probably increase his sales (some will see the news-story as an advertisement or endorsement). They will not view the story for what is was - to highlight the inappropriate mass breeding of puppies.

...I just could not bring myself to watch it.
And they all are registered with AKC - Where are people who come by to check your kennel, identification and records? Don't see anything about them in the Secretary's Minutes.

A good friend helps you up when you fall. A best friend pees their pants laughing and trips you again!
Where is their market? Do they sell the pups to the general public, or what? Do they sell them to pet stores, (ARE there still pet stores)? I just don't understand how they can market the dogs from places like that.

Even the people who know what they are buy from them anyway because they feel they are rescuing the dog/puppy from horrible conditions, which is true, but also allows the miller to continue doing what he/she is doing. In addition, I don't think people realize how many truly uneducated buyers there are in the world, all many of these people see is a puppy and don't care about anything else. Newspaper ads, pet stores, parking lots, decent looking websites plus the abundance of puppy sales sites that are nothing more than clearing houses, there are many ways to market pups. As far as I know, this forum and Working Retriever are the only sites who require any kind of health clearances when posting puppy ads, as well as ban posters who scam anyone.
