    Default Retriever Advisory Committee

In April 2009 AKC Board of Directors meeting, 3 RAC Proposals were discussed and tabled for more discussion next month (p. 9, performance events section).
    http://www.akc.org/pdfs/about/board_minutes/0409.pdf

The recommendations were made to AKC almost one year ago according to this link:
    http://www.akc.org/pdfs/events/field...roposals08.pdf

For those involved with this process, is it standard procedure for recommendations proposed by RAC to take this long to be considered by AKC?

If my memory serves me correctly, the deadline for club votes on those proposals was the end of '08. How clubs voted was supposed to be reported by the AKC by around the 1st of Feb. '09 (again, going from memory).

Only three of the several proposals are going to the AKC BOD. I'd be interested to know which clubs voted FOR proposal #3 (converting "should" to "shall" in many instances). Talk about taking "judging" from the judges....

Has anyone heard who is going to be appointed to fill the vacancy on the RAC?

As the Constitution of AKC requires, the Board will have to bring rule changes for field trials to the Delegate body for approval. This will include a first reading, plus published twice in the AKC Gazette, plus a final vote by the Delegate body. The Board unilaterally can make procedure and regulation changes, but not rule changes.

It was impossible, so it took a little longer to accomplish.

Kate has replaced her husband Pete on the Subcommittee on Rules for the Eastern Time Zone.

That was the rumor that I heard. I did not know it was official.

Definitely fits with the direction the RAC was heading.

" In the past two years the Restricted Stake has been little used; 100 dog entries continue to be commonplace during certain seasons and in certain sections of the country. It seems clear that many of the trial giving clubs simply don't want to reduce trial size."

Retriever Advisory Subcommittee on Rules: April 16. 2008

    Accurrate data wrong conclusion.

Did the committee ever consider that clubs do not want to control entries via a Restricted? Maybe as a "Rules Committee" they need to look at their present rules as being ineffective in providing clubs workable alternatives to control entries.

In keeping with their traditional of representative governance, you mean?

I always thought the RAC was a sub secret commission....almost like being on double secret probation....

I mean with their past recent proposals being IMO "out of touch" with the problems faced at today's field trials and the direction the sport is headed.

I'm just glad to see that they brought someone that is currently running trials, training and judging dogs with a good understanding of what is currently going on at today's trials and understands the problems and maybe even has some fresh views!!!
