This is dispicable. There are lots of places he could cut funding, like TARP abd welfare but this one will hurt my brother officer's families.

This may not be quite as bad as it sounds. The article is unclear on the total amount of benefits available for slain or disabled personnel. Based on last year's deaths the total expended may have been about $40,200,000. Thus, the $60,000,000 allotted should be able to cover the benefits that will be needed for the coming year.
Additionally, if funds allocated do not cover the costs, they are automatically increased to whatever amount is needed, even if they exceed the budget levels.
It would appear that the beneficiaries will not be short-changed ... and the "appearance" of slashing $50,000,000 from the budget is mere smoke and mirrors. The amount being "slashed" is money that would never have been spent anyhow based on prior experience. That $50 million would go right back into the budget automatically if it were actually needed to fund these benefits.
I'm glad to know that protectors of our safety won't be penalized. OTOH, Fox's headline is misleading unless you read the article carefully. Also, it is not a "real" budget cut since the money involved was over budgeted expectations to begin with. It is possible that an inflated line-item like this, it might encourage more fraud by some people in the line of processing the benefits.

The gonif can give money away hands over fist to socialist programs and crooked bankers but is cutting funding for cops families, that just plain stinks in my book.
