This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009....

We just learned yesterday about this on the Peter Boyle's radio program.

Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because it is flying under the
radar.

Guys you gotta keep up. This has been going around and around, but it is essentially dead to the point the NRA is just “keeping an eye on any further actions”. Just because it is on snopes doesn’t mean it is the absolute end all fact or that it is an actual representation of what is currently happening. This bill got zero support and was referred to the house judiciary committee where it is dying a slow death, never to see the light of day again.

It is H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. This bill was introduced in the 111th Congress by U. S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D IL) on Jan. 6, 2009. Failing to attract any co sponsors, it was referred for consideration to the House Committee on the Judiciary, where it now rests awaiting further action.

It was introduced so that part is true but it was no surprise and real no surprise that it got no support. Rham Emanuel was the cosponsor and was too far left even for most democrats. If you read to the bottom of the link to snopes you would have read that this is pretty much not a big issue. This is helping drive gun sales and gun prices. Can’t find ammo (we can’t here, at least not defense calibers) this is a reason why. We have to watch these things but by pushing it and keeping it out there without completely checking what it is about only helps the antis by causing fear in those of us who are gun owners and does things like drive up prices and make guns and or ammo hard to get. Having the freedom to own guns is not much good if you can’t get or shoot them. Believe me the NRA is very good at getting the word out and the date this started was in January (even the link you posted is Feb.) and if it were a threat the word would be out in days rather than 3 months after the fact.

It is kind of funny that the bill was proposed by someone who reportedly went AWOL from the Army to co-found the IL chapter of the Black Panthers and served 6 months prison time for an illegal firearms conviction.
