Last week in the Army I was sitting on the Berlin Wall with a rack of beer BS'ing with an East German Boarder Guard as the wall was coming down. Biggest party I've ever been to in my entire life.
"Blastem Daddy!" My Son's advice to me as a big ole Tom turkey came strutting within range. My son was 6 at the time.

Yeah, US Army Infantry. Indirect Fire Crewman.

    Rank? No.

    Where? In hostile surroundings.

When? 1968-69. I'm not really sure though. I think it was after my trip to Amsterdam...

Made E-6 in 3 years and 10 months- got a letter from Admiral Zumwalt congratulating me for being the youngest E-6 in the Navy (2 months shy of my 21st birthday). So I could go into the 1st Class Lounge but couldn't drink there.

    Squid regards
