Merles Door Good Book

I just finished reading Merle's Door. I enjoyed this book. What I took away from it was to let your dog make decisions. Some of it was stretched a little thin.

Anybody have any ideas of other doggy books. No training manual stuff. I have those and don't read them.

Nops Trials(about a border collie- great story).
Reading " A Good Dog " now-by Jon Katz,also about a BC -not my breed but any good dog story is worht reading to me...
Cant remember the one by Dean R Koontz- could be "the Watchers" with very talented Golden Retriever who could spell. Its been 20 yrs since I read that I think but it was good.

Not a fan of Merle's Door as he sat there and let his beloved companion die in an undignified and painful way. Maybe he (the author) didn't want to play god, but that left a really bad feeling in me.
