Friend was bit in the face tonight

My friend was bit in the face tonight by a black GSD. We were doing the 4-H dog show and she was judging. She went to do the stand for exam and the dog lunged and bit her face all around her nose. I saw it happen and told her if she needed me to give a statement or whatever I would. She showed a lot of restraint because if that had happened to me I would have killed it! These people have two of these dogs. Both skittish as he!! and neither should have been brought to show. I was holding the other one while the kid did an agility walk through and it just stood there and growled and shook. My arm was shaking, that's how bad she was shaking and this wasn't even the one that bit! I told her that her and her parents need to push to have that dog destroyed! What would you all do? Would you want this dog destroyed? She is looking at plastic suregery as of right now.

Sure as hell wouldn't want to see that dog bred. There is no value in an aggressive dog and if the dog does this with a judge then chances are that this could happen with kids and other adults. Keeping the dog alive is not worth the risk of further injury. If that was my dog, I would put it down.

I agree with Mike. If it will bite and adult then it only a matter of time before it bites a child. Not a chance I would take. Too many good dogs out there to keep one that bites.

When you own breeds as such this is a chance we all take. It's a hard decision to make to put a dog down, hope your freind looks over all aspects before making a that decision. Hopefully she's gonna be ok.

usually the dog needs to be quarantined and then put down. If this could happen with an adult, it could easily happen with a child. No question, I would put it down if it were mine.

Iagree that any dog that will bite a person should be put down. I've got a pit/lab rescue that has recently been retired to my folks farm and while she has been good as gold she is 5yrs old now and getting more aggresive with the other dogs and visitors of late. We don't wana put her down but then we don't want to wait for a situation like this. I'd push to have the dog put down and am sorry for your friend
