Stronger Nails?

My dog keeps cracking nails. We thought it was diet at first, now the vet thinks its probably training in areas where there are a lot of sharp rocks/oyster shells. Other than finding some new water, are there any supplements or diet modifications to give a dog stronger nails?

I don't have any info regarding strengthening nails other than to keep them very short.

I've found that when my dog's nails split or break, it is because they have not been kept short enough.

They are pretty much cut back to nubs right now, and we are waiting to see if that helps.

I was told to grind them, as they don't split so quickly. Helped a lot!

I supplemented my dogs with MSM capsules once (for joints) and took them myself. The dogs' nails grew like rip and were extremely hard. My nails got quite a bit harder, as well.
