These attorneys are basically at will employees. Clinton fired 93 when he came into office because he could.

Bush fired 7 that he had appointed in his first term. What is the big deal. They did not like their performance so they were fired.

But seriously, all presidents replace the attorneys typically upon taking office. That is their right. Was was an aberration in Bush's regime, was that after seeing their performance, namely failing to harass political adversaries, selective firings occurred. That is politicizing the justice department, something that his predecessors, both republican and democrats, avoided doing.
